>>>>>>>>I think it's almost inevitable, as more and more children grow up in a world in which science and technology are evolving at such a fast pace, that religion will devolve into smaller and smaller enclaves. The more that science can explain, the less need there will be for religion - especially organised religion.

>>>>>the proportion that human race create cars, machines, cures, etc, etc... Is the reverse proportion to increase that "independent" feeling of no necessity to link (or dependency) with the creator.. and here is the main cause for bible 2.0 and stuffs like that... The thought atheist (beyond others) basically use the capacity of creation of human race as the explanation for its own existence. Plus, some natural confluence of materials as the sources of the life on the universe...
>>>>>
>>>>>So, on the proportion that we see, that all that we have done is nothing.. More that we see that we really are dependent of a power beyond of our knowledge..

>>>>I'm not going to argue whether or not technology has been a good thing, a bad thing, or indifferent. Do you deny that there was a time when science could explain very little of how our world works and the number of people who believed in a god or gods was almost the same as the number of people alive? Are you also arguing that as science has become better and better at explaining the world around us, that number has not dropped dramatically?
>>>>
>>>>Once upon a time, people believed in a thunder god. Now we know what thunder is, nobody believes in a thunder god any longer. People believed in rain gods and goddesses, fertility gods and goddesses, sun gods and goddesses etc, etc. As science has become better at explaining these phenomena, those beliefs have dropped away. We have gone from a world in which almost everybody believed in god to a world where probably less than half do (just guessing - I have no real numbers). As long as we couldn't explain the natural things around us, we believed in gods.
>>>>
>>>>As science explains more and more, religion will have less and less of a grasp on the human psyche. People will simply stop needing to believe in mythologies.
>>>>
>>>
>>>Sure, now we know a little more about natural laws.. we know what is a thunder, we take the control of many advents of the nature.. And, preach about a god thunder sound so stupid as mickey be aclaim as well..
>>>
>>>I remember on a few past, a history that I read (on readers digest) about a people living in caves and all that they see was gray colors (because of the shades).. A prophet between them start to preach if they cross the forbidden border (the cave exit).. They will change his life because they will see different colours them gray.. Nice history about a same perspective of your approch..
>>>
>>>But, talk about faith.. is more than a little change of perspectives.. or growth.. It is not a case of "wow, they don't know that thunder itisn't a natural event of nature"..
>>>
>>>For instance.. In my case, I do believe in a God named Jesus Crist of Nazaré.. He has a proper name.. He has, as evidence (pretty accepted by me).. Many and many descriptions of his acts.. Wrote on thousand of historic books.. Was a leader incomparable.. With only 3y of preaching he change the world.. Politically, religiously and culturally as no other did on history..
>>>
>>>Even if we don't accept his miracles.. The evidence of his life it is on my own life.. and on the life on million of Jesus followers.. Even if you don't accept the miracles that he did in my own life..
>>>
>>>>If you and others need the comfort of believing that life doesn't end with death, and that there is some great intelligent power controlling your lives, then fine. Your need to believe is your need to believe, but that doesn't change the fact that the numbers of those like you have dwindled dramatically, and will continue to do so as scientific knowledge marches on.
>>>
>>>sure.. but, you as me and any other fellow here.. has a same fidget on our souls.. for knowledge and growing.. this is why we exchange words, phrases and thoughts.. We grown and change..
>>>>
>>>>My sister believes as you do that there is something beyond us, but her choice is not to believe in God, but to believe in ghosts, the 4th dimension, flying saucers, astral projection, and all like that. Which only goes to show that as long as science can't explain everything, people will come to all sorts of odd beliefs about what lies behind it all. You choose God, she chooses new age.
>>>
>>>hehe.. fine.. for me no problem.. shes is different them me.. There isn't nothing wrong about *be different*..
>>>>
>>>>I choose to believe simply that science has not yet come to the end of it's road.
>>>
>>>and will never do that.. The border stops on faith.. far from it, only by faith..
>>>
>>>;)
>>
>>You have every right to believe as you do. But that still has little or nothing to do with the discussion. You may believe as you do and many others may also, but none of that changes the fact that the proportion of believers is dropping. And, I believe, will continue to drop. And that is what the discussion was about, not about whether or not you believe in Jesus.
>
>sure.. this is what I meant to say.. I just quote numbers of followers only to help part of my argue.. My try was to bring a brick to the conversation, associating human conquers (on technologies stuffs) as a kind of engine that moves the human heart outside of spiritual talks.. Or outside of a necesssity to have a god/creator..
>
>well.. as a small last comment ..IMO, this is why we have become (humans) worse, empty and with stone's heart.. Everyone living for its own interests.. We're loosing the sense of a set..

I won't disagree with you on that comment, because we feel the same about it. I just think we probably feel it's for different reasons. I don't believe in God, but still, here I am agreeing that people need to become more in tune with each other and to be less self absorbed. See what I mean about belief in God not being necessary in order to feel the need to treat one's fellow man/woman with respect and decency?
