In 2004, when hurricane Isabel was coming, all the ships and airplanes (which are also naval vessels) have left the area three days in advance, and returned three days after it was over.

Sort of reminds me of the series of military and civil defense exercises we had in SFRY in the eighties, under the slogan "nothing must surprise us", which became a joke when one of those was announced with a poster. On top, there were these bold words, then most of the space was taken by the schedule, then on the bottom it said "may be postponed in case of rain".
