>>>sure.. this is what I meant to say.. I just quote numbers of followers only to help part of my argue.. My try was to bring a brick to the conversation, associating human conquers (on technologies stuffs) as a kind of engine that moves the human heart outside of spiritual talks.. Or outside of a necesssity to have a god/creator..
>>>
>>>well.. as a small last comment ..IMO, this is why we have become (humans) worse, empty and with stone's heart.. Everyone living for its own interests.. We're loosing the sense of a set..
>>
>>I won't disagree with you on that comment, because we feel the same about it. I just think we probably feel it's for different reasons. I don't believe in God, but still, here I am agreeing that people need to become more in tune with each other and to be less self absorbed. See what I mean about belief in God not being necessary in order to feel the need to treat one's fellow man/woman with respect and decency?

>before middle age.. many sick people were left on its own luck.. christian movements at that time had created houses that received people with leproses and others illnesses where the fear of the contamination banish them from the society..

If you're going to go back so far, then you also have to include the Spanish Inquisition. I don't like to go back into history like this because today is not necessarily then but if you insist...

>Human empathy or love it is not a feeling strong enough to produce power to change reality like that..

>For today, all around the world, banish from the society we have million and million of homeless.. Here at Fortaleza city (the place where a I live) we have maybe 500 thousand of them.. The only effective organization capable to change that reality is knowing as church.. Roman chruch, Christians, spiritual chruch,etc.. Doesn't matter what they believe.. But, both of them has a same feeling that move their spirits.. And, that one pass from the great wish to be the God's hand on the life of that people..

I disagree. There are people all over the world doing good works. Doctors without borders is a good example. They are not and do not represent a church. You may like to think that only churches do good work, but that's just plain wrong.

Also then, how do you explain the church moving child molesters from parish to parish instead of admitting what was happening and doing something about it. All they were doing was making sure their pedophiles had new innocent prey.

>What other human organization has such power like that? Our natural passion is about our own interest.. So this is by itself the great evidence of a existence of a God..
>
>Think honestly a little deep about it..

I do, and I've come to the conclusion that churches do good work and they do bad work. I've also concluded that God is a mythological being. If you choose to believe, good for you. Not me.

And still, none of this has anything whatever to do with the original discussion. The proportion of believers is diminishing. Your belief in God doens't change anything.
