We resolved this on Friday and the solution might be useful to someone else. The VFP application was developed using Visual MaxFrame. It is VMF that is setting the memory environment parameters and by default, it takes all that it can see. We have an INI file for the application so we set a parameter in there and now pass it to VMF to set the SYS.

We used the 512 MB recommendation in the link you provided.

In short, the application runs fine and since we're not taking all the memory we can see, our application is a little more "neighborly" on the desktop.
