It's pathetic how much money we have poured into that cesspool. I would say the same thing if Al Gore had been President the past 7 years. A horrible, horrible mistake. This is without question the worst foreign policy debacle in our history. Viet Nam was a brilliant exercise compared to this.

>I've read 2 articles in the last week. One in Rolling Stone, one in Vanity Fair, detailing how the US literally sent 12 Billion (12,000,000,000 if I'm not mistaken) in US currency to Iraq.
>
>The article in Vanity Fair goes into a little detail of how the currency is bundled in a Federal Reserve faciility in NJ. How much security there is in getting the money onto pallets and into secured trucks.
>
>The money was put onto cargo transports and Paul Bremer's CPA group was in charge of dolling it out.
>
>Both articles place the total of the 12 Billion (once again 12,000,000,000) that can be accounted for at approximately 3 Billion.
>
>Our govt created a free for all environment there and does care 1 iota. Witness the whistleblowers who are landing in big trouble these days.
>
>>>Articles like this seem to make more sense everyday. But at least this explains why others who don't think we have anything to fear about our future have anything to worry about:

>>There's (coincidentally?) an article in latest Harper's, "Disaster capitalism", which outlines the same mechanism of creating/using a disaster to pump tax dollars into an extraordinary situation where regulations allow for less scrutiny and accountability, and then turn the pumps to about three maximum pressures, so immeasurable amounts of tax money go into contractors' pockets in a wild stream. No control at all, except control over whistleblowers who may dare try to stop them.
