>Columbia University president Lee Bollinger slammed Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as he was introduced for a question and answer session with students. Asked about widely documented government abuse of women and homosexuals in his country, Ahmadinejad said, 'In Iran we don't have homosexuals like in your country. We don't have that in our country. In Iran we do not have this phenomenon. I don't know who has told you that we have it'

His eradication program must be working. Maybe he's just trying to court the American religious right, trying to find a common ground.

I think his efforts to build bridges to the Aryan Brotherhood and Neo-Nazis have already been fairly successful. And of course I'm sure most of America's soi disant "intellectuals and artists" would give him a pass on this breakdown in PC since his position on so many issues is parallel to that of moveon.org and would trust and respect him over George Bush.

Perhaps while he is here he should visit Noam Chomsky, whom Bin Laden identfied as his favorite American intellectual.

Charles Hankey

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin

Pardon him, Theodotus. He is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.
