Have you set a color profile under desktop "properties/settings/advanced/color management", or is that what you meant when you said you tried different color settings for the printers. There should be a profile that matches your screen.

I have tried 3 different printers (HP Color Laser Jet 3600, Konica Minolta MC2450 and Konica Minolta MC5440DL). I have tried different color settings for the printers. I even tried printing to CutePDF and then printing. The PDF looks fine, the printout looks reddish.
