We were having a problem where we were getting a "record in use" error on append using buffered data when the tableupdate command was executed. The appends are in a loop with many records being added. We changed the program to test for the return value of tableupdate and that seems to have fixed the problem. We also changed a flush inside of this look to flush force. The result is that we are no longer getting the record in use error but the performance time has increased somewhat -- from a few minute process to a 15 minute process. Could it be that flush force could account for this and that we can do just as welll with just flush.

Thanks
