>>>>>>I buy a fair amount of cat food (no, Terry, it's for my cats, sigh). In every store I've been in, I've noticed that the canned food (170 gm size) sells individually for less than if you buy the same brand packaged in a case of 12. Very strange. For instance, I was in PetSmart, and the individual cans were 47 cents, A case of 12 was $5.87. Nobody seems to know why, but I suspect it's because generally people expect it to be the other way around, so they buy the cases without really paying attention.

>>>The problem is that offering and saving are weak terms. We suppose that we safe money. (I simply suppose an offer is nothing then an euphemism fo cheat)

>>>>At a cinema near home, when there were 3 of us and a toddler, I had to pay £14.50 for 2 adults and a child. Then I noticed that a "family ticket" (2 adults + 2 children) was £13.50. The girl argued that as "I wasn't paying for" the toddler I couldn't get the reduced price!!! :-( ;-{ 8-| (my expressions of puzzlement at the time) I regret I hadn't invented another child who was out of sight at time of purchase. :-)

>>>To the familiy ticket. The public transport offers a faily ticket for 2 adults and up to three childs. It is a kind of 24h ticket. It's cheaper then 4 single tickets (two adults -two ways). You don't need kids - and you don't need to be a family. I like it.
>>>
>>>OTOH I own a state wide ticket for state owned museeum and castles. This is valid only if at least one of the childs is withal.

>>Museums are free in the UK now, and I'm a member of the National Trust whereby, for an annual subscription, you can go to any of their locations: Stately homes, castles, old mills, old mansions, gardens, etc. for free. Don't use that enough though!

>I have that too and like you don't use it anywhere near enough times. Been to Stourhead a couple of times but we aren't so near that anymore.

Worse still, we pass a few of them quite often when visiting relatives, but there never seems to be enough time to do both :-)
- Whoever said that women are the weaker sex never tried to wrest the bedclothes off one in the middle of the night
- Worry is the interest you pay, in advance, for a loan that you may never need to take out.
