For my accounting applications I need to print a narration generated based on the record being printed. So for eg. an Invoice might have a narration like in the account of the person/party billed "Invoice no. 12 dtd. 12/12/2007", this same transaction will have a different narrations in the account of the sale "Invoice no. 12 dtd. 12/12/2007 issued to X.Y.Z. Ltd.". These narrations are expected to be modified by the (fox-aware) user.

These above are simple examples but they can get really complicated. To counter this problem I started to generate the narrations at the time the entry was being saved. Users have cried fowl when the memo file get corrupted, worse still they change the narration mid-way through the year and want the past narrations to reflect the changes.

Hoping to avoid these above mentioned problem I am curious if the narration can be generate dynamically at print time. If so how would it affect the performance? Are complicated narrations possible to generate, ie. referring multiple tables at the time of reporting just to create the text.
