I've read this piece before. Quite fascinating. Then again we do tend to speed-read as we get older - scanning ahead and skipping words. I've been complaining lately that I'm getting dyslexic in my typing but maybe my mind's doing the eguiv of this and "not caring" what order the letters are in, as it races ahead to getr the ideas down.
