In 2002 the Federation of American Scientists thought this (along with intelligence sources from around the world):

http://www.fas.org/irp/cia/product/Iraq_Oct_2002.htm

then in 2003 we learned this:

http://www.fair.org/index.php?page=1845

There was a lot of intelligence from defectors on wmd in Iraq. Kamel was not the only one. The intelligence from foreign intelligence agencies as well. Other intelligence information proved true so the intelligence agencies put too much weight on the wmd claims. Either that or the wmds were indeed moved before we could get to them.

To say that the administration or our leaders intentionally mislead the American people is not known nor is it proven. It is indeed a possibility, but not a stronger possibility than Iraq shutdown or moved or destroyed it all before we got there and then perhaps just before as many sources onsite in Iraq claimed.

Can you substiantiate your claims that our government knew in advance that there were no wmds in Iraq at the time? Can you substantiate your claim that they intentionally lied to the American people? If you see your neighbor with a tow missile launcher on Sunday and on Monday you report it to the police but the weapon is no longer there, were you intentionally lying to the police?

It may come to light one day that our government leaders did in fact know that no wmd program existed anylonger in Iraq. Our government has been misleading or slanting information provided to the public since it began and it has been continous through every administration. Until that day happens though, everything is supposition. Nothing else.

>There was no credible evidence of WMD in Iraq. None. Zero. The UN task force looked for close to a year and didn't find a firecracker. But the guys with itchy trigger fingers who have been bungling (apt word) this country for 6 1/2 years were determined to start a war anyway and they did.
