I see that you marked my reply as the solution, but I said the "simplest", not the "best" <g>. The simplest may very well be the best in some cases, but there are cases where you may want to fetch the return value, or check continuously whether your external APP is still running. I think in this case some Windows API is appropriate, but I don't remember the details.
