I guess I get between 26-30 mpg urban, and it's 12 miles each way to work, so 240 miles, plus the odd run-around at the w/e.

>You can drive on one tank of gas to and from work for two weeks? How many miles per gallon does your vehicle get and how many miles a day do you drive to/from work? It must be close!

>>I haven't the conversion factors to hand but, even if you were to buy at the same price as we, given that it's roughly $2/£1 at the moment, that would be $1.90 per lite. If it's 3.79 litres to the gallon, then that makes $7.395 per gallon, by ny reckoning. A fill-up costs me c. £47 (say, $94), which may last me 2 weeks of just going to work and back.

>>>$10.50/gallon? (3.79 to 1, right?)

>>>Unleaded regular here is around 2.77/gallon and about 10 cents more a gallon where my work is. It costs me 33.00 to fill up my tank and that lasts about one week unless I run errands on the weekend and the I go through a tank and a half (due to the distance to everything around here). Takes 2 tanks a week if I drive to work one day.

The vapour trails of airliners actually have a marked effect on terrestrial temp. During the 3 days or so after 9/11, when aircraft were grounded, the temp. over NY rose by several degrees, without the criss-cross contrails everywhere.
