It goes in the init of the group. It explicitly calls the parent class's init() (in place of your dodefault()) which I thought was the problem? The default init() of the parent class was not firing? I must have misunderstood...

>Um . . . It's not clear where I should put your suggested code. It is not the parent's init that I am having trouble with. It is the init of one of the buttons in the group. The init for the group does fire.
