Charles,

I moved to dot net C# about 2 1/2 years ago. Having learned and worked with VFE for so long gave me a great appreciation for frameworks also. I have not spoken to Mike or Toni for quite some time. I am using Mere Mortals and find many similarities. I was really glad I had experience with patterns and such as well. I still struggle with the way dot net does some things and certainly with using classes where abstract classes are involved since it is so strongly typed.

Great to see you here and knowing you are coming to Texas (g)

>Yeah, I'm having a lot of fun with .net. My income still comes from VFP/VFE but I'm using Strataframe and VB .NET and I'm finding that the transition isn't very difficult at all and actually kind of fun. VFE well prepared me to appreciate how much time and money a framework can save when you move to a new technology and that is really proving true. It also shows me that a lot of the best practices and design patterns built into VFE carry over beautifully. All my VFE apps are against SQL Server, are n-tier, work with data as an objects, use factory patterns etc so what I'm getting going to .NET is just a whole lot of cool UI convenience and some amazing integration with the OS.

Arrrgggghhhhh!!! And then, if you try and tell the newbies that it's bad practice to do it that way, you "don't get no respect" because why would all the examples say to do it that way if it's wrong? It's a never-ending battle.
