For our first ASP.Net project we used Mere Mortals framework. That turned into a disaster and we spent a lot more time removing the framework than developing the application. That is not a put down of Mere Mortals - we used a very different way of data handling than MM was designed for. By the way, I have several MM licenses that are unused now if anyone is interested!!

I've never been fond of using third party frameworks because I hate to get dependant on them. Now all our .NET development is done w/o third party frameworks (we do use some 3rd party controls - very sparingly).

Any development I initiate is strictly SQL Server. It is powerful, bulletproof, fast, and very easy to work with, scalable, and free or inexpensive depending on needs.

Of late I've been stuck on an Oracle based project (not by choice) - luckily tomorrow is my last day for that!
