There is a possibility of someone making a compatible product - just like the precursor of VFP was originally a clone of dBASE III.

There is at least one company that is trying to work on this, but I wouldn't count too much on it - obviously, they may eventually end up with a usable product, or they may not.

On the other hand, Visual FoxPro itself is going to continue working for many years more - there will simply be no more upgrades. And Microsoft stated quite clearly that it was NOT interested in distributing the source code.

If you are young enough, I would suggest you start learning some other programming tool. - I am quite busy, and feel somewhat old (41, actually...), but I am still considering learning something new eventually.
