I am very connected with people back home, on daily basis and I know about events back home and the area more than the one living there.

I did not agree with invading Iraq but thanks God for Bush otherwise the Syrian would have still ruling Lebanon like a country of slaves. We hope the US will not change course on supporting Lebanon independence.

Turkey as a secular Islamic country is a model that the US/west wish for the rest of the middle east. Even under the Ottoman khalifah, they separated social and criminal rules where Sharia only applied for social issues, such as marriage,divorce and inheritance. by the way, this seperation still applied in Lebanon.

Every country has the right to do what's good for them and I don't see a conflict between the US and Turkey as good for Turkey or the US. I hope Turkey will keep looking west with tolerance within. Secular Turkey is needed more than ever and I hope they will never look back nostalgically.
