Is it because you're just as likely to be addrressing someone Jewish that we often hear Americans hailing "Happy Holidays" at Xmas?

I should like Xmas as I tend to get 1.5 - 2.5 weeks off, depending on what days the bank holidays fall on (places kl=like mine tend to shut down for the days in between Xmas and NY.

This year I'm likely to have a longer holiday as I'm about to be made redundant!
