>We have a Foxpro 8 database on our local machine and a shared sql server database on our remote machine. We have created a remove view that updates or inserts data into the sql server db using the local foxpro data.

put a firewall (adviced cisco) to your remote server. use vpn for a secured encripted communication. create your sql-server password with microsoft adviced type.
