That makes an awful lot of sense if you can get good redundancy.
One caution:
one of our clients was doing that in Long Island NY and the whole company went off line on 9/11 for a couple of days till web commumincations came back up.
They had back up power and server redundancy, but not web redundancy.
Anyone who does not go overboard- deserves to.
