>On the train yesterday I read a New Yorker article by Seymour Hersh about the administration's thoughts on Iran. (Man, does that guy have sources). One of the things mentioned is that the CIA group responsible for Iran has been beefed up to the point that it is the biggest group for any country. He wrote that the buildup has been similar to what happened with the Iraq group in the fall of 2002.

Just a guess on my part, but given history I would think the humint from Iran is much better than what we had coming from Iraq.

But don't you think it is appropriate right now to have the Iran desk beefed up? The big complaint with Iraq was that we acted with flawed, incomplete or improperly analyzed intelligence.

Charles Hankey

Though a good deal is too strange to be believed, nothing is too strange to have happened.
- Thomas Hardy

Half the harm that is done in this world is due to people who want to feel important. They don't mean to do harm-- but the harm does not interest them. Or they do not see it, or they justify it because they are absorbed in the endless struggle to think well of themselves.

-- T. S. Eliot
Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch.
Liberty is a well-armed sheep contesting the vote.
- Ben Franklin

Pardon him, Theodotus. He is a barbarian, and thinks that the customs of his tribe and island are the laws of nature.
