I not sure if this would be faster but you could try.
select inspection
LOCATE
replace passfail WITH thisform.zpassfail(),;
	jobhist  WITH thisform.zjobhist(inspection.jobnum, inspection.itemnum),;
	itemhist WITH thisform.zitemhist(inspection.jobnum, inspection.itemnum) ALL
