Here in the states we say skō'gən, but my grandpa insisted it is skoo-gehn (he was born in Norway), and then there is indeed sk aa gahn. I hear something similiar to "sk ah ō'gən" most from my older relatives though (it all runs together almost like skahoooogen). I understand the Swedish use the same word for forest or woods as well, but I don't know if it is pronounced the same or not. I think it is skoven.
