That's air pressure on your cover. Didn't you do the experiment in school where you place a ruler on a desk, much of it overhanging the edge, then place a newspaper over it and flatten the paper down. Now rap the overhanging edge downwards. If you have the paper flat enough the ruler won't budge, due to AP. I did it once and broke the ruler.
