>>Actually it was Bo Schembechler who said that about Ohio State.

>>Speaking of whom, SOMEBODY PLEASE BEAT OHIO STATE! Nothing particularly against them, and normally I always cheer for the Big Ten (the conference that can't count). But if they win out they will be right back in the BCS championship game, with probably the same result as last season. They can't compete with the speedy teams from the SEC and Pac 10. I don't want to see a snooze of a championship game, especially one that makes the conference look bad. Which it is this year -- I just don't want everyone to know it!
>>
>>There is hope. Wisconsin is next up and they have a history of beating Ohio State in Columbus. And they play Michigan in Ann Arbor this year.

>( it was Woody, not Bo. You may be thinking of the 1946 game - pre Woody and Bo - when Michigan led 55-0 late in the game and kicked a field goal. )

I stand corrected. That anecdote was in a Bo Schembechler obituary when he died last year (on the eve of the Ohio State game!) but you're right, it was Woody who said it. My bad.

The college polls are so wacky. They don't really rank the best teams, they rank the teams with the best records. There are probably a dozen or more teams better than Ohio State. But they play in tough conferences and beat each other up instead of staying unblemished against mediocre opponents.
