I ran a few more tests with little luck (the Netware server took 4.5 minutes!). Then I thought, maybe you were running with the VSS database on your local hard drive rather than a network server. So I tried this and the load time dropped down to 45 secs but that is as low as it goes. I checked to make sure no unnecessary programs/processes were running.

Can you give me a little more info on you setup? Are you running on a network etc. I wonder if there are some VSS setting that could be causing excess work by VSS when the project loads. ??? Again, if I disable VSS, the project loads in a couple of seconds.
