He/She may have done this crime under influence (gang, drugs, etc.), so it may not be a lack of "something" in his/her being, it may just be what he/she have taken or the environment he/she is in. Remove the influence and you may get a completly different person.
I'm not saying that this criminal shouldn't get punished, he/she should be. But we should help him/her get back on track. If it work, he/she would be able to contribute positively to the community after his/her sentence. If not, just let him/her in jail. But at least, give him/her a chance. Death sentence means that we doesn't really matter giving him/her any chances. It's a lazy option IMO.
>I'm referring to really vicious crimes. Not your typical criminals. I think in order for anyone to commit those crimes there is something lacking in their being that cannot be replaced. Almost as though they are separate from the rest of the human race and lack empathy for their fellow human beings. Psychopaths.
