I could have worded the post a lot differently and it would still have been coming from the same place. Taxes pay for something. People like to say the government doesn't know how to do anything with money except waste it, but that simply isn't true. If everything provided by the government were suddenly removed we would all notice very quickly. My point is taxes pay for some things we need. This is the same in the U.S. as in other countries. As it is Europeans look at Americans as unconscionable for not providing health insurance for all and tolerating homelessness. Why? Because as a society we're too cheap and too selfish, that's why.

You are implying that lower taxes equate to improved. I don't agree with you.

>I hate that argument and it isn't really an argument at all. It's like saying that if you were fed bread and water everyday you shouldn't complain about it if the rest of the world only gets bread. It doesn't make it right, nor does it make it the best system. Only in some cases, a better system. Anyway, if everyone becomes complacent then nothing will change and nothing will improve. In fact, if it wasn't for people being disatisfied with the systems elsewhere and wanting change, our country as we know it wouldn't exist. There are alot of great things about this country, but there are a LOT of things that could and should be improved. Come on now, complain! :o)

>>Moaning about taxes is an American national pastime. I would venture to guess a high percentage of the moaners don't realize how low our income taxes are compared to those in other developed countries.
