If you're talking about what I *think* you're talking about... are you saying that the tattler went even further, taking the matter to the employer? And that as a direct result, the employee lost her job?
Whatever the other rights and wrongs, such behavior is sufficient to substantially alter the community standing of the tattler around here IMHO. But it would be equally wrong to leave rumors swirling if it didn't actually happen.
So, are you sure it happened- IMHO there have been enough libelous attacks in the matter (mostly directed at the employee, I might add) so can we please be very straight on this?
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us."
-- Shakespeare: Coriolanus, Act 1, scene 1
