You're playing too loosely with words, Sam.
Kidnappers are apprehended, not kidnapped. They are then (usually) held in a jail until their trial completes. Then they are either jailed for a good period or set free if found not guilty.
By the way, when I grew up the King James version of the Bible had a commandment that said simply "Thou shalt not kill.". Today I understand the same version now says "Thou shalt not murder.". I wonder how/why that came about?????
