The only exception that I can think of is that some people leave their computer logged into the UT all the time but actually only spend a few minutes each day perusing messages. For those, it is impossible to assume they've read anything. Although, I think in this case, Jay is right and everyone on the UT has seen this thread unless they don't read the chatter section (and there are those who do not).
