Actually, one of the joys of small-town living is leaving your door unlocked. Several years ago, a couple of convicted murderers escaped from a prison van a couple of blocks away from our house. The police had to inspect almost every house on our block because none of them were locked!
We've got 3 dogs. One of them is a pit bull. Of our three dogs, he is the one most likely to roll over to have his belly scratched, but I don't think a stranger entering the house would wait around to see.
