I have run into a problem using API calls to get a MAC address to identify a machine. On Windows XP if the cable is disconnected, id don't get the adapter's MAC address using NetWkstaTransportEnum.

I can get it using WMI, but I am wondering what issues I might have in the wild trying to use WMI?
