I am curious what your motivation is for that question. To me it seems that the letter shown is very relevant to the discussion at hand.

This is why the letter is important....

THOMAS BABINGTON MACAULAY (1800-1859) -- British writer and politician
"The measure of a man's character is what he would do if he knew he never would be found out."

It seems someone got found out. And now from what I hear is lobbying to have these letters removed.

It's funny how Dear Abby said it best....

ABIGAIL VAN BUREN ("Dear Abby") advice columnist
"The best index to a person's character is (a) how he treats people who can't do him any good, and (b) how he treats people who can't fight back."

Sayings found at web site....

Don't want to upset the copyright police.

Until now this was just a bunch of people discussing hearsay.

>What is your purpose for dredging this up again?

>>There's still some disagreement whether or not a certain letter should disclose the names of the persons involved. Well, this hyperlink shows the 'safer' version. I think it is not really an issue. All people here are keen enough.
