Hi,
Sounds like the indexing was trashed.
Have a look at Seagates Seatools, either the DOS or windows version.
http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/support/downloads/seatools/I had to clone a drive yesterday that the MSI was screwed due to the client resetting the machine during a software uninstall, seatools was the only imaging software that would install without a 1325 error, it works well.
>I seem to have the drive back!!!

>Under Safe Mode I saw that the drive was set up to allow 'fast indexing'. I removed that.

>When I re-booted in regular mode I was able to access the whole E: drive using Explorer. I hope it lasts < s >

>By the way, I had verified the backup... well, I mad sure that I could see randomly selected subdirs and open various files OK.

>>>I am now able to get some output from "Disk Management". I had run a CHKDSK from the "XP Recovery Console" prior to trying. I continue to be unable to list the drive's content by clicking on it in Explorer (but Properties continues to work and display correct information).
>>>
>>>Disk Management shows:
>>>Layout = Simple
>>>Type = Dynamic
>>>File System = NTFS
>>>Status = Healthy
>>>Capacity = 69.24GB (which is correct)
>>>
>>>Since I have backed it up I am tempted to do a FORMAT. But I have this nagging feeling that ity's something in the OS that has gone amiss.
>>>
>>>Any suggestions?

>>Verify backup before formatting.
