>When I lived in Napa, I had a contract job that lasted a couple of months in Woodbridge. I had to go down Hwy 12 through Rio Vista and past Lodi several days a week. That stretch of highway can be treacherous when the tule fog appears, but luckily for me it never got that bad in those few months I traveled that stretch.

A friend and I had to visit a customer, only about 75 miles away, but it was winter. No snow, but on the way back we had such a fog. Luckily it was late, so the roads were practically empty, but it was so tiring to drive when you don't see the next white line, you can only guess in which direction it would appear. We had to keep track, mentally, of our whereabouts - one would drive, and the other would watch for any signs, shape of the curb, anything that would tell us where we were. When I said "If I didn't know where I was, I wouldn't know where I was" it made perfect sense... for a minute or two, then we just had to laugh.
