>>I’m building a single image setup file in Installshield 2008–Express Edition using the ‘Microsoft Visual FoxPro 9 Runtime Library’ merge module. During the build I get the error ‘The VFP9R.DLL file is invalid or damaged.” I also have the runtime files in the development folder that Installshield is building from but they are not listed in the “destination computer’s folder” in Installshield. Strangely, when I remove the files from the development folder I get the error ‘Cannot locate the Microsoft Visual FoxPro support library.’ I’m not getting other errors during the build. It’s as if the build is trying to use the runtime files from the development folder rather than the merge module. What’s happening and what can I do to resolve it?

Seriously, Inno is WAY faster to load, WAY faster to compile, WAY faster to install, WAY faster to uninstall, and uses ordinary text script files rather than a proprietary database to hold installation information. I've been using it for several years after I ran into InstallShield issues and haven't looked back.

If this advice was coming from someone other than Doug Henning I’d probably continue working with Installshield for as long as it took. I can't believe all the time and money I’ve spent on Installshield. Economically speaking, it’s just a sunk cost. I’ll get started with Inno Setup right away. I can’t afford to lose any more time. Thanks Doug!
