They not only play the old standard DVD's, but they have what's called upsizing technology. So the old DVD's will look better playing thru these.

>>>I've been avoiding the HD-DVD/Blu-Ray wars.
>>>
>>>But the wars have just heated up a bit with the Toshiba A2 HD-DVD player being sited at $99 at Walmart. The problem is that this news has gotten far and wide. So you have to be at Walmart in the morning, when the truck arrives to make this purchase.
>>>
>>>Circuitcity.com has it at $129. So it's a little easier.
>>>
>>>Has anyone gone ahead with this here?
>>
>>
>>No, definitely not. I have way too many "regular" DVDs to want to change technology. I'm sure the picture is a little better but I don't have any complaints about the DVD picture I already get.
>>
>>The issue isn't really the cost of the player, is it? It isn't much good without something to play. The discs are more expensive. This seems to be a razors and razor blades scenario.

>Don't the two highdef players also play "regular" DVD format too and hence your current collection is still viewable on them?
