Short of clicking the little 'x' in the upper right corner of the left pane, I don't know of a way to make it show only the right panel. I assume there must be a way to make it come up like that. When you right click on some shortcut, and choose 'properties' and then 'find target', the view you get is the one that I think you want, so there has to be a command to make it come up normally that way. I'd like to help, but...
