This is the one that has the System Tasks, File and Folder Tasks, Other Places, Details, etc. I just want to see the list of folders/files. I have been unable to find a way to make this go away. Other than dragging the width of the full window small enough, then it disappears, but then it's too narrow for my use.

When you right click on some shortcut, and choose 'properties' and then 'find target', the view you get is the one that I think you want, so there has to be a command to make it come up normally that way. I'd like to help, but...

Hmm, I can't test it here, I'm running Windows 2003 Server. I'm running the Luna theme so it should be nominally the same as stock XP, but maybe not exactly.

When I click on "My Computer" on the Start menu, by default I get a Windows Explorer (classic) view with no treeview at the left. There are exactly the same options on the menu to enable/disable the folders treeview as with Windows Explorer itself and they seem to work the same way.

Off the top of my head I don't know how to adjust the non-Classic view window. Can you right-click on anything to adjust its properties, or maybe right-click on the window title bar, or on the top-left icon? I can't test that here.
