Great question....

A couple of ideas here.

I just replaced my receiver with this

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000HC0BJG/102-7283285-5848107

This is the 1st THX receiver I have seen under 1000.00...

My guess is you may want to look into a new one.

I bought that Pioneer for a couple of reasons. I need a ton of inputs. I also wanted an HDMI capable receiver. Currently I am doing optical sounds from my 360 which is fine. You may just want to stick with that. But HDMI does send sound signals through the HDMI interface.

If you have an HDMI tv thats great go HDMI from the player to the reciever then out to the TV. The pioneer has 2 HDMI ins and 1 out.

But you can also use Component (Red,green, blue) to the receiver and use optical for sounds which is great.

I'll tell you what though. I had a decent sony before the Pioneer. Changing that out was probably the best addition to the rack..... The sound was AWESOME!

>HA!! See I told you that you shouldn't let me know you're a gadget head. I couldn't find the $99 A2 anymore. But I came pretty darn close. The A3 for $199 from BB. But this includes 5 more DVD's, 2 in the box, plus pick out 3 more from the store. So that kind of makes up for the $100 price difference.

>Now for the question(s):
>First one, I have a Denon 2803 receiver, purchased maybe 5 yrs ago. Do I need a new receiver to get better quality sound from the A3?

>That's it for now.

>>Hey Perry
>> I am a real AV Gadget head. At 129.00 an HD drive is defnitely worth it.
>>Be warned that that drive is capable of only 1080i. Which is not a real big deal. 1080i looks great.
>>
>>I have the HD Add-on drive for my 360 and have half considered buying a seperate HD Drive because the 360 is way too loud IMO. Its not that bad though when you have your THX thumping Transformers at 100db though <g>

>>>I've been avoiding the HD-DVD/Blu-Ray wars.
>>>
>>>But the wars have just heated up a bit with the Toshiba A2 HD-DVD player being sited at $99 at Walmart. The problem is that this news has gotten far and wide. So you have to be at Walmart in the morning, when the truck arrives to make this purchase.
>>>
>>>Circuitcity.com has it at $129. So it's a little easier.
>>>
>>>Has anyone gone ahead with this here?
