Has anybody read the book "Wild Fire" by Nelson DeMille? I'm only 130 pages into it, so no spoilers please ... but it's a pretty scary scenario concerning nukes and Islam.

>>>But the nice thing about Pakistan is that if we want to bomb them it will be easy to outsource it to India. ( yeah, that's sick but Musharef is getting up my nose lately. Too reminiscent of the old days when we had to cozy up to Samoza or Pinochet or Diem because the enemy of my enemy ... )

>>I have a feeling he won't be in power much longer. There are already signs the country, not to mention the international community, won't tolerate martial law. And much of his constituency, the Islamic part, will never forgive him for cozying up to the U.S. What worries me more than Musharraf is the possibility of major instability in a country with nukes.

>Absolutely. As I said in an earlier post I'm more concerned with Pakistan than either Iraq or Iran. But was only half joking about the outsourcing to India, too. India will only tolerate a certain amount of craziness on its own border and a Talibanish govt in Pakistan would make that much larger country quit nervous.

>If 911 hadn't happened Mushareff would probably be gone by now, but I don't think we'd like what would be there instead ( armed with nukes ) any better. The last thing we want in Pakistan is "democracy". Couldn't we get the Brits to take it back?
