I need help to display a looked-up string in a grid, whose RecordSourceType = 1 (alias). This string is generated from the value in an eight-character field in the grid’s RecordSource. (NOT the field’s actual value).

I specifically need this column’s ActiveControl to be

1) READONLY.
2) ENABLED. (The control’s DBLCLICK event must be available at runtime.)

I’d like a textbox for the column’s ActiveControl. If possible I’d also like to use a simple ASCAN() lookup expression.

I have, so far, been unable to create a useful “dynamic lookup” expression for the property sheet’s ControlSource. In my best attempt, when clicked, the displayed value is suddenly truncated to the ControlSource’s length (eight characters).

Is this directly and simply doable? If not what approach should I use?

Thank you VERY much for any suggestions!

Spencer
