>1. I discussed this with someone outside the computing world and their take was that the hijacking of someone elses signon was completely unacceptable and that, to quote "sh*t attract sh*t" . That wasn't referring to the people but to the actions . So harrying MA and AK would be carrying on that sort of sh*t.

>2. I would guess that a reasonable employer on receiving an unsolicited letter like this about an employee they where happy with would check the facts. If they thought it was a problem they would issue some sort of direction/warning. If that direction / warning was ignored then they would take other action. Soeither they are a bad employer or there was a problem.

>On #1....I busted Naomi's chops big-time via private email when the truth came out about her logging in using Andy's name, and I urged her to come clean and admit the facts online. Now...IMO, what Naomi did was a stupid, idiotic, and immature thing to do - and I believe she did it more out of weakness, paranoia, and intense personal insecurity. Look, I'm going to be blunt here...Naomi is a mess. Sure, we're all messes at some point, but she has problems. I'm not excusing what she did, and unlike a few other well-meaning people up here, I'm not infantalizing her....what she did was serious and very wrong, and clearly her personal discipline is very low. I've tried to help her with 'tough love' via private email, which some have agreed with and others have strongly objected to.

>But unless I'm missing something, she did not 'wreck havoc' in the sense that she did not post any messages under another person's name, she did not sabatoge anything, etc. If she had, my take on this would be very very different.

>On #2...maybe she deserved it (to be terminated), maybe she didn't. John Ryan made a point that one way to address the employer issue would have been to block access to certain sites....that way, if it STILL continued, then you clearly had a defiant employee. Now, I've spoken to one person who said that those kind of e-controls are expensive to implement....and I've since spoken to another person who says they are not at all expensive. I think a response of 'if her employer felt she needed to be let go, then that's that' really misdirects the issue here.

The threads that she "wastes" her time on are technical threads, and even if she is answering peoples' questions she is still polishing her skills, so it is benefiting her company by futhering her skills.

It's not like she wastes time reading Iowa Hawkeye Football message boards during the day. I don't do that either....

Send all letters to:
PA Crew
C/O John Ryan
Pennsylvania
(They know where it goes)

BTW: I found a job for John Ryan - He is the PA Crew liaison.
Very fitting: http://xkcd.com/386/
