I agree that laws are different. But I can see a U.S. lawyer finding several arguments.
- None of their business. Forum participation <> co-worker issues;
- Phoney argument regarding 'protecting taxpayer value'. A state agency (or municipal?) and not even in the same state as the letter writers;
- Malicious intent with no shred of justification.
I interpret AndyK's "departure" as moderator on a MSDN forum as some "proof" that his original argument was totally without merit. And what transpired after that shows far more bull-headedness than ever has been displayed by Naomi.
It's a slow process regaining my health, but it is steadily going upward as a trend.
