Kevin,

Who was it said "Put not your trust in princes?" And who was it that added "for they will plead expedience while spilling your blood from a safe distance?" ;-)

That's why you won't see any comment. Without NN's public appeal and without publication in the wider media, turning away from NN is the expedient course.

The irony is that MVPs are not princes. They are individuals who have pleased a certain vendor, ostensibly but not necessarily for community service. Once people start writing these sorts of letters as MVPs, of course it affects the program, or at least the perception of it.

One current consequence is that several people have stated that they have little further interest in who is or isn't a MVP. This might have stirred more of a response, but IMHO they don't believe it and look forward to going back to life as princes once the contrivance dies away.

Finally, it's worth observing that "chatter" threads are minority interest in UT, unlikely to be viewed by many apart from the small group of current participants.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
"
