And you may be right about that. The real over-reaction seems to have happened in the beginning when a disagreement about what was an appropriate post on Foxite turned into a very silly personal war that was both unnecessary and unproductive.

Perhaps the best that can come of this (and the only way to prevent this sort of thing in the future) is for it to serve as a lesson to all of us that we need to keep our egos out of technical arguments. We are blessed in being part of a profession where good ideas are subject to objective proof and we don't need to argue about things that cannot be tested.

Most people here seem to be able to keep that perspective. I think in this case Nadya and Andy and Marcia all lost sight of that.
