Craig,

Got some disconcerting news from Crystal tech support. It appears Foxpro is no longer supported in CR 2008 and a .NET solution is required. I'm going to try to call them for clarification. See below:

----------------- CR Tech Support Begin -------------------------
Thank you for using Buisness Objects Self-Service system.

Summary of the issue:

I understand that you would like to integrate a report which created in Crystal Reports 2008 in Visual Foxpro 9.0 application. But you get the following error while executing your application:

“Cannot instantiate CrystalRuntime.Application”

Next Steps:

Please note that, Visual Foxpro is not supported platform for creating application with Crystal Reports 2008. RDC (CRAXDRT) has been deprecated with Crystal Reports 2008. We would have to create an application using .NET SDK with Crystal Reports 2008. .NET SDK is the only SDK which supported for developing applications with Crystal Reports 2008. I suggest you to refer the following link for supported platforms for Crystal Reports 2008:

http://resources.businessobjects.com/support/communitycs/TechnicalPapers/cr_2008_supported_platforms_windows.pdf?recDnlReq=Record&dnlPath=cr_2008_supported_platforms_windows.pdf

(Note: Please see page number 15 in the above-mentioned PDF document.)

I suggest you to use .NET SDK for creating application with Crystal Reports 2008. If you face any issues with .NET application to view your reports, we will be glad to assist you further.

As you log the case as “Installation & Config”, we will count this case as one of your support incident. You could use this case in future. I am closing this case in our self-service system.

Thank you for your co-operation and understanding.

If you would like to add an update to your case, you may use the Online Customer Support web site. All notes added to your case are automatically forwarded to the Customer Support representative or team working on your case.
------------ CR Tech Support END ---------------------------

BTW, not sure what "deprecated" means in this context. According to the dictionary, deprecated means to "depreciate or belittle". Doesn't sound good.

Larry

>I'm not sure what is happening. Perhaps it is an optional install. The CR web site says it is a fully functional demo. CR2008 has recently been released and I haven't had a chance to look at it much.
